- HELP: How to be an Active Pray-er
Agree to become awake, intentional and committed to praying more actively. This type of pray-er can be done by everyone, from home or when driving around, with simple, short prayers. Some people call this drive-by praying. You can pray alone or get someone to join you. Pray for churches examples: If you hear of an event where a church outreach, pray for it. When you think of a church, pray for the Lord to move in that church. If you drive by a church, pray for its revival. If you aren't sure they preach the gospel, pray that they will. In other words, pray not only for your own church but for others. Pray for other topics examples: Consider any place an opportunity to intercede for people to come to know Christ, for believers working there to share their faith with boldness, for people to be discipled, for the kingdom of God to advance. Actively pray for strategic places: like schools, city government, businesses, and events. This can become contagious if you model this type of praying when you are with other believers. Encourage them to be an active pray-er wherever they go. Share information on the discussion board for which others can intercede. Send an e-mail with current events and/or prayer points for your church, city or county. Got an answer to one of your prayers? Share it and we'll post it in the testimonies section.
- HEALTH: Resolutions & Vigor
"And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." Romans 12:1-2 NLT As a world, we have had to face the pandemic, health crisis, and fatigue. How can we have the energy and strength to do what God is calling us to do? Paul gives us the answer in Romans 12:1-2; give our bodies to God; do what He wants with your body, that would please Him. Need accountability? We will be praying for any prayer requests regarding health issues every week on Tuesdays. Send us an e-mail with your requests at sbcuniteandawake@gmail.com. Health focus #1 - Surrender Start by asking the Lord what does this verse mean for you: "Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So, you must honor God with your body.' [2 Corinthians 6:19-20]. What do you need to surrender? Are you getting enough sleep? water? fresh air? calories? exercise or activity? Review the verse above and ask the Lord how your body can be a living and holy sacrifice. Stop and pray about it. Wait on the Lord. Be still. Listen. What is He telling you to do? Share this with someone or ask us and we will pray. Health focus #2 - Covid TMI
- PREPARE HIM ROOM in December for your family, church, city & county
So often we focus on the festivities of the season and not the reason. In this month, let's remember to open our hearts and continue to pray. Without Jesus, we would have no celebrations. This month begins the fight for life at the supreme court. This month Covid and its variants continues to promote fears. This month people will struggle to pay their bills due to rising gas prices, shortages, fewer workers, etc. This month the enemy will not stop trying to steal, kill or destroy BUT the Lord came to give us life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Determine with us to press through and pray until our prayers reach heaven. That they will overflow the bowl of incense (as they are represented in heaven) and spill out onto earth. That REVIVAL will break out. In Jesus mighty name - Immanuel. Maranatha. Check out the podcasts and prayer points below. December can be filled with our focus on the things of this world which can weigh us down. Instead, let's open our hearts to prepare room for our Lord to hear our united prayers. Each day, there will be a prayer topic along with a podcast and prayer points. If you miss a day, you can always hear a prior day's theme. You can choose to pray alone or with others. Additionally, there will be references at the end of this blog to learn more. Consider listening to this song and read the lyrics to help you focus on the Lord during this month celebrating our Lord's birth.
